Principal's Year End Review
San Ramon Valley Christian Academy
The Academy enjoyed its 27 th year of ministry. The Lord has continued to bless the efforts of the staff in the Academy's mission to provide a Christ-centered K-8 education whereby students develop spiritually, academically, socially, and physically and are equipped to fulfill God's purpose for their lives. Our vision is to be a renowned Christian school which transforms lives for God's glory. The enrollment for the year averaged 318 students in grades K-8.
Spiritual Formation:
Academy students had daily prayer and Bible study, weekly scripture verse memorization, and attended weekly chapel services where they were challenged to glorify Christ in their words, thoughts, and actions. Their outreach projects included raising donations for the Katrina relief fund, the San Francisco Christian Academy , and participating in CPC's If I Could Change the World campaign.
Academic Excellence:
The students' academic performance reached the 86 th national percentile on the Stanford 10 Achievement Test. In addition to the core academic instruction, SRVCA students were also taught by six specialist teachers covering Spanish, Computers, Hands-On-Science, Physical Education, Art, and Music. Academy students also demonstrated excellence in the ACSI Creative Writing Festival, Elementary and Junior High Speech Meets, and Junior High Math League. Special excursions by students included the 8 th grade Washington D.C. trip, 8 th grade Asilomar Retreat, 6 th grade Alliance Redwood Camp, 5 th grade overnight at Borges Ranch, and 4 th grade overnight at Rock 'n Water near Coloma. In addition to these trips, each elementary grade had four to six field trips to local educational sights in the area.
Cultural Events, the Arts, and Sports:
The PTF enrichment assemblies for all students included the Lawrence Hall of Science, the Santa Rosa String Quintet, and Flamenco Dancers. Music performances included three Christmas programs involving all K-8 grades as well as two spring musicals. The 8 th grade also gave an outstanding performance of The Trial of Goldilocks . The Academy sports teams continued participation in the competitive Bay Area Christian Schools Athletic League. Team sports included softball, volleyball, basketball, and soccer. The SRVCA Cheerleading squad supported them at events and pep rallies. Junior High students participated in the elective program which included cooking, leadership, chess, bowling, junior achievement, physical fitness, aeronautics, computers, and art.
ACSI/WASC Accreditation:
The Academy was accredited in June 2005 by ACSI and WASC. We received high commendations in areas of our commitment to excellence in Christian education; the PTF and their support of the Academy and supplemental programs; the students for their demonstration and application of biblical principles and Christian character; the parents and school aides for their creative support of the classroom environment; the student council leadership for directing the activities program of the Academy in a Christ-like manner; and finally, CPC for their generous provision of a first class, educational facility which allows the community of to take advantage of a Christ-centered education.
Future Growth and Vision:
Enrollment for the coming year should again be near the maximum of 328 K-8 students with the addition of a second 8 th grade class. It is the prayer of the Academy that our capacity limit will be increased in the future to accommodate the growing demand for Christian education in the San Ramon Valley .
