6th - 8th Grade

6th Grade

6th grade can be the best of both worlds for students who love the fun of elementary school, but look forward to the challenges and adventures of Junior High. Pam Winaker and Leslie Elting lead the way as 6th grade students experience the blessing of doing one's best for God's glory in an English/Social Studies/Bible core program in the morning along with traditional 50 minute periods of Math, Science, and PE later in the day. Students also take Spanish twice a week and choose from a variety of quarterly electives on Wednesday afternoons. Students enjoy the changing schedule with a gifted group of teachers who specialize in their subject area.

7th Grade

Seventh Grade is a true transitional year moving from the tranquility of pre-teen to the tumultuous teen years. As homeroom teachers, Leo Limoges and Shahien Shahkar lead students on field trips, speech meets, spelling bees, the science fairs, and the math olympics. Classes offered to the students include Math (3 levels based on need and placement), World History, English, Spanish I, Bible (Old Testament Studies), Life Science, P.E., and various electives. Applying God's word to daily life is a constant part of learning, both in and out of the classroom.

8th Grade

The eighth Grade year is the final preparation before entering High School. At the beginning of the school year, students and some teachers go away for a three-day retreat to build class unity. Led by Nicole Resendiz and Jamie Westgate, the year is filled with activity: the Science Fair, the eight grade play, and Graduation. In February, the entire class travels to WashingtonD.C., where students have the opportunity to view the history of our great nation. One thing that sets SRVCA apart is the service hours required of the eighth grade students. Some of those service projects include Special Olympics, volunteering at local churches and travelling to Mexico as part of a mission trip with CPC. Some of the Eighth Graders take Algebra I in preparation for High School Geometry, and most will take Spanish I in preparation for Spanish II in High School. Bible class truly focuses on application?students learn to put into practice the principles of God's Word.
