Kindergarten
Heather Oliver and Nicole Patton take the wheel of our Kindergarten classes and promise a year filled with fun and learning. SRVCA offers an all-day Kindegarten program with a small group experience with a class size of approximately 15 children. Various enrichment activities are offered throughout the week: cooking, special art projects, Junior High elective classroom aide. God's word is incorporated into all areas of the class day. The A Beka language arts curriculum integrates reading, phonics, language and writing. God's world is explored through Hands-on Science. We use a hands-on mathematics program to help students gain a concrete understanding of mathematic principles. We take several walking field trips to learn more about our community. Weekly Reader is used for our Social Studies units. Our program is rounded out with chapel, music, Spanish, library, physical education and art.
1st Grade
Though it is an academically rigorous year, Conni Cisek and Nicole Resendiz make sure that students have a firm foundation which serves as the cornerstone for their future learning. Through the A Beka Language Arts and Math curriculum the students are prepared to excel in reading, writing and mathematics. Spelling tests, dictation, writing journals, reading groups, phonics and math speed drills are all incorporated into our week. We have the privilege of having talented teachers lead the students in special classes of Physical Education, Music, Art, Spanish, Computers, Hands-on-Science and Library. Our Bible curriculum gives the students an ever-expanding knowledge of the Bible and develops their relationship with Jesus through stories, memory verses and songs. This is a year of incredible growth for each student!
2nd Grade
Leslie Etscheid, Stephanie Carrington, and Allyson Berry love to come along side their students in exploring God's creation through special trips and creative writing. They ensure that second grade at SRVCA is a year of growth and development. Writing descriptively and reading with expression are new to students. They study math by using hands-on materials that make math come alive! Through Hands-On-Science students explore and become scientists. They learn how to ask questions and predict what each experiment will hold. God has blessed us all with His beautiful creation and in second grade, the students learn how to treat it with care. With exciting field trips throughout the Bay Area, the classes explore the beauty of nature, outdoors, animals and how factories work. By the end of the year, students will excel at reading, writing and mathematics! Through the wonderful Biblical education, each child comes away ready to share their faith with people who don't know about Jesus Christ and His love.
