Third graders begin each day with Bible study and prayer. The primary goal is that students understand God’s desire to have a relationship with them, respond by making a personal decision to receive the gift of salvation, and begin to develop the mind of Christ. Memorization of scripture further enhances the development of a biblical worldview.
-
Third graders build a strong foundation for solid writing, reading, listening, and speaking of the English language using an integrated approach. Included is whole-group and small-group instruction as well as the use of digital tools and differentiated instruction. Particular attention is paid to writing solid paragraphs with proper elements.

This rigorous program balances conceptual understanding with math procedures and application. Each lesson offers digital math tools, modeling, differentiation and real life application. Hands-on activities allow students to gain understanding and confidence as concepts are applied using manipulatives and exploration. Multiplication and division facts are mastered with attention to speed and accuracy.

Third grade science incorporates a Christian worldview by showing God’s nature and man’s responsibility as revealed through creation. Biblical truth is woven throughout the text. Science process skills such as hypothesizing, experimenting, inferring, and classifying are applied. Students investigate the beauty, order, intricacy and variety found in creation. Children’s natural inquisitiveness and joy of discovery forms the basis for the investigation of animals, ecosystems, the solar system, and basic biology.

Third graders study US history, communities, historical figures, and how people work together to make decisions. Students will see history “come alive” through local fieldtrips and classroom projects.
