• Sixth graders study the Life of Jesus Christ. Students learn about His character, major experiences on earth, miracles, parables, and sermons. A detailed study of the Sermon on the Mount equips students with an understanding of life expectations for His follower. New Testament studies are a regular part of each class.

  • Sixth grade language arts focuses on the areas of grammar, composition, vocabulary, reading, and literature. Thematic units allow students to reflect on their reading and writing assignments through Biblical application. Writing skills are developed through creative and analytic assignments. Essays include narrative, argumentative, informational writing, and literary analysis. Students read a mixture of classical and modern literature, non-fiction texts, short stories, myths and poetry to help strengthen critical thinking, comprehension, and skills.

  • This rigorous program balances conceptual understanding with math procedures and application. Each lesson offers digital math tools, modeling, differentiation and real life application. In sixth grade, students master the four arithmetic operations using while numbers, fractions, decimals, positive and negative integers.

  • Earth science is the primary focus of this course of study. The major topics covered are geology, earthquakes, volcanoes, the dynamic earth, water and water systems, meteorology and the environment. Students are inspired to be curious and appreciative of God’s creation.

  • Sixth graders study ancient history from creation to the fall of the Roman Empire. This includes the study of ancient Mesopotamia, Babylon, Assyria, Egypt, Israel, China, India, Persia, Greece, Rome and geography. Weekly map quizzes are also incorporated into this program.

  • Sixth grade Spanish is an exploratory year for students and they begin to acquire the language, conjugate verbs and master vocabulary and spelling.
